Job summary

RecruitME is seeking a Plant & HGV Maintenance Engineer in Stafford to maintain a diverse fleet of plant machinery and materials-handling equipment on a secure MOD contract. The role involves servicing, fault-finding, inspections and repairs across forklifts, telehandlers, excavators and generators.

You will participate in planned maintenance, ensure safe operation, and help maintain fleet readiness while benefiting from funded training and a stable, long-term opportunity.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing, maintaining or repairing vehicles, plant machinery or heavy mechanical equipment.
• Mechanical, electrical or hydraulic fault-finding skills.
• Experience completing maintenance inspections and repairs.
• A Level 3 engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
• Good safety awareness and a practical approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine servicing.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Complete mechanical repairs and component replacements.
• Maintain engines, braking, steering and hydraulic systems.
• Inspect and test machinery to ensure safe operation.
• Carry out pre-delivery and compliance inspections.
• Maintain accurate service records and maintenance documentation.
• Support fleet reliability, equipment availability and operational readiness.
