Job summary

GA Pet Food is seeking an HGV & Plant Engineer Technician to join a small on-site team. You will perform inspections, maintenance, repairs and MOTs on HGVs, trailers and plant while diagnosing faults with Texa equipment and liaising to order parts.

The role requires 4+ years in HGV/Plant, apprentice-trained to C&G or NVQ Level 3, and MOT/Loler experience with welding and electrical skills. On-site duties emphasize safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of HGV/Plant technician experience.
• Apprentice-trained and qualified to C&G or NVQ Level 3 in HGV maintenance & repair.
• MOT Preparation experience; LOLER inspections.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs and MOTs on HGVs, trailers and plant to VOSA standards.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults using Texa equipment.
• Dismantle and replace faulty components and test them for safe operation.
• Order vehicle parts with the workshop administrator and maintain records.
• Keep a clean, safe and well-organised work area and communicate effectively.

Job description

We are looking for a HGV & Plant Engineer Technician

The successful applicant will work in a small team of on-site Mobile Plant Technicians to meet deadlines and deliver work to a high standard. They will work with the Senior Technician, following daily workflows and job priorities which are scheduled by the workshop administrator.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs & MOTs on HGV's, Trailers, Pool Cars & Other Plant to VOSA standards.
• Diagnose and rectify all types of mechanical & electrical faults using Texa diagnostic equipment.
• Dismantle, repair/replace faulty components, and test new ones to ensure they work safely.
• Liaise with the HGV workshop administrator to order vehicle parts.
• Ensure all relevant documentation is completed, and accurate records are maintained.
• Good communication and maintain a clean, safe and organised work area.

The Candidate:

• 4+ Years of HGV/Plant Technician experience.
• Apprentice-trained and qualified to C&G or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
• Holds a valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence (Desirable).
• MOT Preparation Experience – Tractor Units & Trailers.
• Previous experience working with HGV's and Plant, basic welding skills, hydraulic & auto electrical skills.
• Hard-working and can work well under pressure in a safe and responsible manner.
• LOLER Competence – Experience in undertaking LOLER inspections – LEEA Certificate.
