Job summary

United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a Defence PIE Technician (Shifts) to support post-irradiation examination and remote handling in a high-activity facility. You will contribute to data collection, development of measurement techniques, and testing of new methods while operating specialized remote equipment.

The role requires practical, hands-on work, strong team collaboration, and the ability to maintain high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in hands-on practical work with high levels of dexterity.
• Experience in industrial environments delivering work to time, cost and quality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivation with the ability to use initiative.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team of operations and technical staff to deploy specially designed equipment.
• Attention to detailed working practice and procedures.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for upholding high technical quality standards.
• Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (UK residency for 5 years).
• British citizen (or dual nationality with British as one).

Responsibilities

• Delivery of tasks to ensure safety, cost, quality, scientific merit and time.
• Undertake experimental work as required.
• Maintain accurate records electronically and wet signed as needed.
• Develop techniques for new methods and keep up to date with industry innovations.
• Understand remote equipment for maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ensure good housekeeping practices are followed.
• Support maintenance, modification and commissioning of team’s equipment.
• Contribute to improvements in working practices and environment.
