Debt Recovery Manager
Newcastle

My Client, a well-established firm, is looking for a Debt Recovery Manager to join their team.

Main Duties:
  1. Defended and complex caseload
  2. Dealing with complex disputes and defended caseload arising out of Leeds and Newcastle standard work and instructed separately.
  3. Conducting advanced negotiations with opponents and their representatives.
  4. Drafting non-standard court documents and correspondence.
  5. Management and supervision of a team of paralegals and administrative staff.
  6. Training and mentoring team as required.
  7. Delegation and allocation of work.
  8. Dealing with recruitment and personnel issues.
  9. Consideration of well-being of team.
  10. Set up of new clients including obtaining ID and liaising with compliance team.
  11. Consideration of regulatory and compliance points.
  12. Preparation of engagement documents.
  13. Dealing with complaints.
  14. Take an active role in achieving team targets.
  15. Assists in achieving strategic goals.
  16. Regular review and analysis of financial data.
  17. Working to increase profitability of the team.
  18. Developing and maintaining case management system.
  19. Delivering training and presentations to clients and prospective clients.
  20. Developing and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
  21. Maintaining excellent standards of client delivery.
  22. Involvement in marketing and business development events and preparation.
  23. Supporting the unit to source and secure new clients.
Skills Required:
  1. At least two years' experience of Debt Recovery work (essential)
  2. People Management experience gained from a legal or professional services environment (essential).
  3. Self-motivated.
  4. Proactive.
  5. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  6. Good attention to detail.
  7. Understanding of regulatory and compliance framework that debt practitioners operate in.
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; confident with both written and telephone communications/negotiations.
  9. Client focussed.
  10. Strong understanding of client needs.
  11. Commercial acumen.
  12. Sound understanding of the debt market.
