MaPS seeks a strategic Debt Policy Manager in Bedford to lead policy and engagement with local government and enforcement partners, improving debt policy and practice across council tax, fines, and related areas.

You will influence national and regional conversations, monitor policy developments, and collaborate to strengthen local debt advice and sustainable funding models, with hybrid working in a Bedford base.

Qualifications

• Experience handling policy development within government or related sectors.
• Knowledge of local government debt management and enforcement practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.

Responsabilités

• Lead on policy matters related to local government debts such as council tax and parking fines.
• Build and maintain relationships with local authorities and other stakeholders.
• Monitor devolution impact and provide strategic insights on local authority behaviours.
• Engage with stakeholders involved in debt enforcement and promote balanced recovery approaches.
• Assess funding risks and opportunities for local authority debt advice and inform sustainability planning.
• Foster cross-sector collaboration to improve access to debt advice at local levels.
