Debt Advice Development Manager
£65000 per annum
Bedford
Permanent
Hybrid Working

Ready to make a real difference? Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as our Debt Advice Development Manager. This is your opportunity to help shape debt advice services that support people across the UK to navigate financial difficulty and build better financial futures. As part of a collaborative and purpose-driven organisation, you'll play a key role in developing and improving services that make a tangible difference to people's lives.

Why This Role Matters

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead and shape key debt advice workstreams including the Standard Financial Statement (SFS), the Money Adviser Network (MAN), the Debt Advice Locator tool (DALT), creditor engagement initiatives, and improvements to customer journeys into debt advice services, shaping work that genuinely improves people's financial wellbeing.

Working collaboratively with government, delivery partners, creditors and the wider debt advice sector, you'll help ensure that services remain effective, accessible and responsive to changing customer needs. You'll use insight, evidence and stakeholder engagement to drive improvements that help more people access the right debt advice, at the right time, through the right channels.

You'll join a team that's passionate, collaborative, and driven by the belief that financial confidence should be something everyone can access. Together, you'll contribute to improving the quality, consistency and accessibility of debt advice services across the UK, helping deliver better financial futures for those who need them most.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Debt Advice Development Manager will report directly to the Senior Debt Advice Development Manager and will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of key debt advice services, products and workstreams, ensuring they deliver positive outcomes for customers and stakeholders.
  • Managing and evolving strategic debt advice initiatives, including the Standard Financial Statement (SFS), Money Adviser Network (MAN), Debt Advice Locator Tool (DALT), and customer journey improvements into debt advice services.
  • Building and managing effective relationships with government departments, creditors, debt advice providers, delivery partners and sector stakeholders to drive collaboration and service improvement.
  • Using customer insight, research, performance data and sector intelligence to identify opportunities for innovation, improve service design and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Leading projects and development activity from discovery through to implementation, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing competing priorities to ensure successful delivery.
  • Representing Money and Pensions Service across the debt advice sector, championing best practice and contributing to initiatives that improve the accessibility, quality and consistency of debt advice across the UK.
What You’ll Bring

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience developing, delivering or improving services, products, programmes or customer journeys within a complex organisation.
  • A strong understanding of the debt advice sector, financial wellbeing landscape, or related customer-focused services.
  • Proven ability to build and manage effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, influencing and collaborating to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Experience using data, customer insight and evidence to identify opportunities, inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong project management and delivery skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and take initiatives from concept through to implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations and engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
