Job summary

Fame Recruitment is seeking a Debt Collector to join the team in North London. The role focuses on recovering overdue balances while delivering empathetic and compliant service to customers.

You will manage a portfolio of accounts, make regular calls, negotiate affordable repayment plans, and ensure records are accurate and up-to-date in line with FCA regulations and data protection requirements. Experience in consumer finance and CRM systems is preferred.

• Experience in debt collection, arrears management or credit control.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• Professional telephone manner with good communication.
• Experience using CRM systems and maintaining records.
• Familiarity with FCA regulations.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client is a well-established, FCA-regulated consumer credit company and a market leader in its field. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a professional and empathetic Debt Collector to join their team based in North London.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of overdue customer accounts and outstanding debts.
• Make regular inbound and outbound calls to customers regarding overdue payments.
• Proactively pursue outstanding balances and maximise debt recovery.
• Negotiate affordable and sustainable repayment plans with customers.
• Deal sensitively and professionally with customers experiencing financial difficulties.
• Monitor repayment arrangements and follow up on missed or overdue payments.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer contact and collection activity.
• Ensure all collection activity complies with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty, company policies and data protection requirements.
• Escalate accounts where appropriate and liaise with internal departments and external parties as required.

Key Requirements:

• Previous experience in debt collection, arrears management or credit control, ideally within consumer finance or financial services.
• Confident and professional telephone manner with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate records.
• Good understanding of FCA regulations.
