Job summary

Devon County Council's Multi-Sensory Impairment Service in Exeter is seeking a flexible Multi-Sensory Worker to support deafblind children and young people in education and social settings, delivering one-to-one support and helping them access a wide range of activities.

You will work to build positive relationships, respect privacy and dignity, and may drive to reach school, community and leisure venues. DBS required; driving licence and vehicle access essential.

Qualifications

  • British Sign Language qualification or experience with communication techniques.
  • Experience of working with children in education or care settings.
  • Willingness to develop additional qualifications such as British Sign Language.

Responsibilities

  • Support deafblind children in daily living and in education settings.
  • Provide one-to-one support and assist access to activities and social opportunities.
  • Deliver care with dignity and respect, including personal care and medication support.
  • Collaborate with professionals to ensure consistency and progress.
