Job summary

Cambian Group Plc is seeking a Residential Support Worker for Deaf Services in Mid Devon. The role involves supporting profoundly deaf young people in a residential setting, with all communication supported by BSL and AAC devices. Travel and integration into the Deaf community are part of the role, with on‑the‑job training provided.

Shifts available: full-time and part-time. DBS and reference checks will be completed as per government regulations, and CareTech Community Services provides

Qualifications

  • DBS and reference checks required in line with government regulations.
  • Some knowledge of British Sign Language (BSL) is desirable; courses offered according to experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people in a residential home setting in Mid Devon, assisting with day-to-day living.
  • Collaborate with local organisations to provide activities, education input and opportunities to attend Deaf events and integrate into the Deaf community.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day running of the home and daily residential support.

Residential Support Worker – Deaf Services

Salary: £13.19- £13.81 + £32 Sleep in Rate

Full time and part time shifts available

We are looking for individuals to support our young people in a residential home setting in Mid Devon. These individuals are profoundly deaf, and need support in their day to day life.

All of the young adults use British Sign Language to communicate and all communication is supported by AAC devices and visual imagery.

Some Knowledge of BSL is desired however courses would be offered in line with current experience and qualifications.

As part of the team you will be working closely with other local organisations and services to offer a wide choice of activities, hobbies, educational input and support to attend Deaf events and integration into the Deaf community. As well as the day to day running of the home and supporting the residential daily needs.

We are looking for passionate and creative individuals to join our longstanding team and continue to provide outstanding care to our young people.

You will be supported by a dedicated core team and on job training.

Requirements for DBS and reference checking will be under-taken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice.
