Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd is seeking a Deaf Teaching Assistant to support deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in a Doncaster school. Immediate start, full-time and long-term, with weekly PAYE pay.

You will assist with communication using BSL/SSE and other strategies, helping pupils access learning materials and participate in class activities. Work closely with teachers and specialist staff to foster independence and confidence.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• BSL qualification (Level 1–3 or above) highly desirable.
• Experience using British Sign Language in educational or support settings.
• Experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired children and young people.
• Qualifications in Education, SEND, Support Work, Health & Social Care welcomed.
• Candidates with lived experience within the deaf community encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Supporting deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in lessons and throughout the school day.
• Assisting with communication using BSL, SSE, or other communication strategies where required
• Helping pupils access learning materials and classroom activities
• Working closely with teachers, speech and language professionals, and specialist staff
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and social development
• Promoting an inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive
