Job summary

Sight for Surrey is hiring a Social Care Assistant – Deaf Services to support people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind. You will deliver practical and emotional support, promote wellbeing and empower families and carers in homes or across the community.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, respond to queries via Facetime, SMS, email, or in person, and use your BSL skills to ensure every interaction is welcoming and accessible. Training and supervision are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience or ability to work with Deaf, hard of hearing or deafblind individuals is highly valued.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills and empathy in diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical and emotional support to people and their families or carers.
• Support wellbeing checks, reviews, assessments and care plans in homes or the community.
• Deliver a responsive adult services duty service as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Respond to queries via Facetime, SMS, email or in person, ensuring accessibility.
• Promote engagement, reduce loneliness and support community activities.
• Maintain safeguarding, record keeping and data collection for effective communication.
