Job summary

Derby College is seeking a Communication Support Worker for maternity cover to support Deaf students and apprentices across the college and local community. The role involves sign support, notetaking, and promoting inclusive participation in academic and social activities.

The successful candidate will have Level 2 BSL, Level 2 English & Maths, and knowledge of the Equality Act 2010, with experience in an FE setting and a commitment to diversity and safeguarding.

• Experience supporting deaf learners in an educational setting and knowledge of relevant policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide communication support to Deaf students and apprentices.
• Work within the Deaf Access Team to ensure inclusive participation in college life.
• Meet learners’ individual communication needs including sign support and notetaking as required.
