Job summary

RED is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to build the in-house DC power and design capability for high-density AI data centre infrastructure in the UK. The role sits centrally within RED, collaborating with R&D to create DC reference designs and later becoming the subject matter expert for DC power system design, modelling, assurance and training.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of DC power distribution principles, system topology, losses and efficiency modelling.
• Strong power modelling capability using recognised electrical analysis tools.
• Ability to interpret UK/European/international standards and apply them to DC systems.

Responsibilities

• Establish RED’s in-house DC design and power modelling capability.
• Develop DC reference designs for AI factory infrastructure.
• Act as RED’s central subject matter expert for DC power system design, modelling and assurance.
• Create training pathways to upskill AC designers into DC capabilities.
• Lead the technical development of DC power distribution concepts for AI-ready data centres.
• Define DC reference architectures interfacing with AC utilities, transformers, UPS and storage.
