RED ENGINEERING DESIGN LIMITED is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer (Direct Current Power Systems) in London, Newcastle, or Bicester to build RED’s DC power capability for AI data centre infra. You will design, model, and advise on DC power architectures and train teams across regions.

Join a central advisory role within a global consultancy, developing reference designs, standards, and practical guidance for high-density AI data centres while collaborating with R&D and clients.

Qualifications

• Deep technical understanding of DC power distribution and high-density data centre designs.
• Strong power modelling using recognised tools.
• Ability to interpret UK/European/international standards.
• Experience in consultancy delivery and design narratives.

Responsibilities

• Establish in-house DC design and power modelling capability for high-density AI data centre infrastructure.
• Develop reference designs for DC AI factory infrastructure.
• Act as central SME for DC power system design, modelling, integration and assurance.
• Create design guidance, calculation methods and training pathways for upskilling engineers.
• Lead the technical development of DC power distribution concepts for AI-ready data centres.
• Define DC reference architectures including interfaces with AC supplies, UPS, energy storage, and rack-level power delivery.
• Assess equipment availability, certification and standards compliance.
• Support R&D in testing options and establishing design rules for reference solutions.
