Job summary

Astute People’s Energy team is recruiting a Day Shift Team Leader for a prestigious Energy from Waste Power Station in Avonmouth, Bristol. You will lead a team of Day Technicians, ensuring safe, efficient operation of the boiler, generator and auxiliary plant, while upholding strict HSE standards.

Salary is £65,363 plus Bonus, Overtime, Pension, Private Medical and broader benefits. Ideal for someone with senior operations experience in heavy process environments and HV switching knowledge.

Qualifications

• Ideally an HNC or similar engineering qualification.
• IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications are advantageous.
• HV SAP/AP experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Day Technicians to ensure safe operation of high-pressure boiler and generator.
• Ensure plant operates within parameters while following HSE rules and company policies.
• Maximise waste input and energy production.
• Chair daily shift handover meetings to review issues and plans.
• Issue permits to work and manage permit office activities.
• Work with maintenance to maximise plant availability.
• Act as Deputy for Operations Manager as required.

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company to recruit for a Day Shift Team Leader to join their Energy from Waste Power Station in Avonmouth, Bristol.

The vital Day Shift Team Leader role comes with a salary of £65,363 + Bonus + Overtime + Pension + Private Medical + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Day Shift Team Leader role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

• The day-to-day leadership of a team of Shift/Day Technicians to ensure safe and efficient operation of a high-pressure boiler, generator and auxiliary plant.
• Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
• Maximising waste input and energy production
• Chairing daily meetings after a shift handover to review health, safety & environmental issues, overnight activities and plans for the shift ahead.
• Acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching and carrying out mechanical and electrical isolations.
• Mainly responsible for permit office work relating to writing, issuing and signing off on permits to work
• Working with the maintenance department when required to ensure maximum plant availability.
• Deputise for the Operations Manager as and when required

Professional qualifications

• Ideally a HNC, or similar, in a relevant engineering subject
• IOSH/NEBOSH will be advantageous
• HV SAP/AP experience will be desired

Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge

• Prior experience working in a senior operations role within a heavy process engineering environment such as Power Generation, Petrochemicals, COMAH sites, etc.
• Excellent knowledge of safe systems of work procedures
• HV switching experience would be ideal
• Experience working with steam raising plant would be highly advantageous
