Job summary

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a market-leading Energy company to recruit a Shift Team Leader for their energy-from-waste power station in Bicester, Oxfordshire. The role pays £74,611 plus bonus, overtime, pension and private medical benefits.

You will lead the shift operations team and ensure safe, compliant plant operation. Ideal candidates have operational experience at power stations, with NVQ Level 3 in engineering; IOSH/NEBOSH and HV SAP/AP experience are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Essential: previous operational experience in a power station.
• NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering subject preferred.
• IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous; HV SAP/AP experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day leadership of the shift operations team responsible for safe and efficient plant operation.
• Ensure plant operates within parameters while complying with HSE rules and company policies.
• Manage the site's safety systems including permit to work and HV Senior Authorised Person duties.
• Provide technical supervision and assistance for staff and contractors.
• Provide effective training and supervision to ensure competency of shift staff.

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, to recruit for a Shift Team Leader to join their energy from waste power station in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

Shift Team Leader role comes with a salary of £74,611 (inclusive of shift and location allowances) + Bonus + Overtime + Pension + Private Medical + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Shift Team Leader role

• Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
• Day-to-day leadership of the shift operations team who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
• Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
• Managing the sites safety systems including the permit to work system and acting as a HV Senior Authorised Person for the purpose of issuing permits, switching, and carrying out isolations.
• Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff engaged in work.
• Providing effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties.
• Providing effective administration and application of safe systems of work and Health and Safety policies.

Professional qualifications

• Ideally an NVQ Level 3 qualification, or similar, in a relevant engineering subject.
• IOSH/NEBOSH will be advantageous.
• HV SAP/AP experience will be desired.

Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge

• Prior experience in an operational role within a power station will be essential. This could be energy from waste, coal, CCGT, biomass, etc.
• Senior Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers would be highly encouraged to apply as well.
• Excellent proven leadership skills.
• Good Knowledge of safe systems of work and health & safety within a power station or similar heavy process environment.
• Experience working with steam raising plant would be highly advantageous.
