Job summary

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking experienced Class 1 HGV Drivers on behalf of one of our established logistics clients in South Ockendon, Essex. This permanent daytime role offers regular hours and overtime opportunities with a professional transport operation.

The successful candidate will operate Class 1 vehicles during day shifts, conduct safety checks, and ensure all transport documentation and compliance are met. Ex-military applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence is required.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card is required.
• Valid Driver CPC is required.
• Previous Class 1 HGV driving experience is essential.
• Day driving experience is desirable.
• Trunking experience is desirable.
• Shunting experience is desirable.
• Good knowledge of UK roads is expected.
• Reliable and professional approach to work is essential.
• Good communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating Class 1 vehicles during day shifts.
• Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
• Ensuring all transport and delivery documentation is completed accurately.
• Complying with drivers' hours, tachograph and road transport legislation.
• Maintaining a high standard of vehicle care and presentation.
• Ensuring loads are transported safely and securely.
• Working closely with the transport and depot teams.
• Maintaining a professional approach when representing the company.
• Completing duties safely, efficiently and within required timeframes.
