Job summary

BrowserStack in Newport, UK, is seeking a Datacenter Operations Engineer for a full-time, on-site role five days a week. The candidate will support day-to-day datacenter operations, deploy new hardware and software, and maintain system reliability, with ongoing collaboration across a global team.

The role requires 2–3 years IT support experience, strong DC infra knowledge, Linux/macOS proficiency, and virtualization familiarity. English language work and UK work rights are required.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years IT support experience.
• Strong knowledge of datacenter components (servers, storage, networking, PDUs).
• Proficiency with Linux and macOS command lines.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware, Proxmox) and server hardware (Dell, HP).
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence and Google Workspace.
• Basic networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance and support of datacenter infrastructure (servers, NAS, PDUs).
• Collaborate with senior engineers to deploy hardware and software in the datacenter.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and daily maintenance.
• Inventory management and asset tagging.
• Monitor performance metrics and escalate anomalies.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues with cross-functional teams.
• Improve procedures and maintain documentation of configurations and incidents.
• Coordinate with vendors for repairs and maintenance.
• Support datacenter security protocols and access control.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
