Job summary

BNP Paribas Personal Finance in Solihull seeks a DBA Administrator to manage PostgreSQL in cloud and to support a transition from on‑prem SQL Server to PostgreSQL in the cloud. This permanent, full‑time role sits in a small, growing team within a global bank environment and offers a competitive package including life insurance, pension and private medical cover.

You will optimize database performance, ensure security and compliance, and participate in disaster recovery planning and annual tests.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of relational database design fundamentals.
• Knowledge of database components and capabilities.
• Understanding of continuity management (backups, incidents, problems, changes, capacity).
• Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of database best practices.
• Breadth of experience in production database installation, support and administration.
• Experience with PostgreSQL 15.
• Service-driven approach with the ability to find viable solutions to issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive support for the build, maintenance, monitoring and improvement of PostgreSQL server solutions.
• Support and maintain our PostgreSQL estate in a cloud environment.
• Provide PostgreSQL expertise to implement solutions meeting standards and best practices.
• Support the business move from on-prem SQL Server to PostgreSQL in the cloud.
• Ensure optimal database performance through proactive monitoring, analysis, tuning and optimisation.
• Maintain database security in line with legislation and internal policies.
• Collaborate with IT to establish robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• Participate in the annual disaster recovery test.

• We support and maintain our PostgreSQL estate in a cloud environment.
• We take a proactive role in projects, providing PostgreSQL expertise to implement solutions that meet company and industry standards and best practices.
• We support the business through its move from an on-premise SQL Server environment to PostgreSQL in the cloud.
• We ensure optimal database performance through proactive monitoring, analysis, tuning and optimisation.
• We maintain database security in line with legislation and internal policies.
• We work with our IT team to establish robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• We participate in the annual disaster recovery test.
