Boots is seeking a Data Scientist in Nottingham on a 12 Month Fixed Term contract. You will join the Data Science Innovation team to build predictive models and analytics across customer behaviour, demand forecasting, segmentation and personalisation.

You'll turn complex business questions into practical data science solutions, deploying models into production and collaborating across Boots to drive value for customers and colleagues.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong statistical methods knowledge and experience applying ML in a business context.
• Programming with Python and libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with large datasets.
• Ability to translate business questions into analytical problems.
• Confident presenting complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent organisation and prioritisation to balance operational activity and development work.

What you'll be doing

Join the award-winning Data Science Innovation team at Boots in Nottingham, where your work will help shape better decisions for customers, colleagues and the business. You'll use rich, large-scale datasets to solve varied challenges across customer behaviour, demand forecasting, segmentation and personalisation.

This is a role for someone who enjoys turning complex business questions into practical data science solutions - and seeing those solutions make a real impact. You'll work closely with teams across Boots, communicating your findings clearly and helping to build our data science capability as we continue to make progress together.

Key responsibilities

• Build predictive models and analytical solutions for challenges such as demand forecasting, customer segmentation and product recommendations.
• Provide deep analytics across a range of business areas, turning data into clear, useful insight.
• Develop and deploy machine learning models into production environments.
• Apply statistical and data science techniques to answer business questions and identify opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams across Boots to understand problems and shape solutions.
• Communicate findings, recommendations and model outputs in accessible ways for different audiences.
• Stay current with emerging data science techniques, tools and best practice.
• Help develop the team's data science capability, including ways of working, methods and standards.
• Balance operational activity with longer-term development work, prioritising effectively in a varied role.

What you'll need to have (our must-haves)

• A degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, data science, computer science, physics or economics - or equivalent practical experience.
• A solid understanding of statistical methods and experience applying machine learning techniques in a business context.
• Programming proficiency with a coding language such as Python.
• Experience using libraries such as pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch or similar.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.
• The ability to translate business questions into analytical problems.
• Confidence presenting complex findings in clear, accessible ways to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to balance operational activity and development work.

It would be great if you also have

• Experience in retail, e-commerce, pharmacy, healthcare or another consumer-facing industry.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Databricks.
• An understanding of MLOps practices and model deployment.
• Knowledge of data visualisation tools such as PowerBI.
