Job summary

Opus People Solutions seeks a proactive Data Protection Assistant to support the Council's GDPR compliance in a hybrid, part-time role. You will liaise with the Data Protection Officer, providing guidance on data protection matters and SAR handling.

You will manage end-to-end Subject Access Requests, log and allocate tasks, monitor deadlines and prepare responses. The position requires two days per week with extra hours during busy periods, in line with UK data protection obligations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Data Protection and GDPR-focused role, ideally within Local Government.
• Knowledge of Data Protection legislation, GDPR and the Data Protection Act.
• Experience handling Subject Access Requests and confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between the Council and the Data Protection Officer (DPO).
• Provide guidance on data protection complaints, breaches and GDPR matters.
• Manage end-to-end administration of Subject Access Requests (SARs): logging, allocation, progress, responses.
• Assist in investigating data breaches and maintaining documentation.
