Job summary

A&O Shearmans is seeking a Data Privacy professional to join its Risk function. You will support the Data Privacy Team's AI and data governance programme, gather and analyse data, and help maintain GDPR compliance materials across global offices.

The role requires a law degree, strong IT and communication skills, and the ability to work independently within a small team. A genuine interest in data privacy, cyber and AI is essential.

Qualifications

• A law degree.
• Excellent IT skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrable experience of working within a professional environment.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels, including with senior stakeholders.
• A proven ability to work independently and proactively and to manage and prioritise a busy workload.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• A collaborative approach and ability to work well in a small team.
• A genuine interest in data privacy, cyber and/or AI with a keen desire to develop a career in this area.

Responsibilities

• Support the work of the team, including AI and data governance programme.
• Gather, analyse and interpret data to support advisory and operational work, including handling individual rights requests.
• Maintain and report documentation required under Data Protection Laws and liaise with global teams.
• Manage and maintain specialist privacy software for GDPR compliance and record-keeping.
• Triaging requests for support and addressing common queries with team assistance as required.
• Contribute to development and upkeep of global data privacy policies, guidance and pro-forma documentation.
• Maintain regulatory registrations and notifications.
• Assist with communications, presentations and training materials for the Data Privacy Team and others.
• Support the Data Privacy Team in delivering the global privacy compliance programme.
• Coordinate and maintain logs, records and trackers to support decision-making and demonstrate compliance.
• Conduct research to support the team and global business.
