Job summary

SLR Consulting is seeking a Data Engineering Lead to provide technical and operational leadership for our data engineering capability. You will guide the design, evolution and governance of the data platform to support enterprise reporting, analytics, AI and digital use cases.

You will partner with architects and stakeholders, mentor engineers, and drive adoption of modern data architectures, with a hybrid working pattern and clear ownership of delivery quality.

Qualifications

• Experience leading enterprise-scale data platforms and teams.
• Strong SQL and Python (incl. PySpark) skills.
• Cloud analytics platforms experience (Microsoft Fabric or similar).
• Data modeling with Medallion, star and snowflake schemas.
• Mentor engineers and establish delivery standards.
• Implement data quality, governance, security and controls at scale.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, testing, version control and IaC.
• Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and influence decisions.
• Balance strategic planning with hands-on leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and evolution of the enterprise data platform.
• Lead data pipelines, transformation frameworks and curated datasets.
• Ensure data quality, monitoring, governance, and security.
• Oversee scalable data integration across APIs, event-driven and batch patterns.
• Establish CI/CD, automated testing, versioning, IaC and documentation.
• Drive platform performance, reliability, maintainability and cost optimisation.
