Job summary

SLR Consulting is seeking a Data Engineering Lead in the UK to provide technical and operational leadership for our data engineering capability. You will own the design, evolution, and governance of the data platform, ensuring scalable pipelines and trusted data assets to support reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.

You will partner with architects and stakeholders to align strategy, drive modern data architectures, and mentor a team of data engineers across enterprise projects.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading the design, development, and operation of enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Strong technical expertise in SQL and Python, PySpark or equivalent.
• Experience with modern cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g., Fabric, Azure, AWS).
• Proven ability to design and govern analytical data models (Medallion, star/snowflake).
• Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, and establishing standards.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and evolution of the enterprise data platform to support current and future analytics, AI and digital capabilities.
• Partner with enterprise and solution architects to align data engineering with wider technology strategy and standards.
• Drive adoption of modern data architectures, data products thinking, and reusable services.
• Mentor data engineers through coaching, code reviews, and career development activities.
• Oversee data pipelines, quality, monitoring, governance, and security at scale.
