Job summary

Bright Purple is seeking an experienced Data Modeller for a 6-month hybrid contract in Edinburgh. The role focuses on building clear, reusable data models that connect business concepts with technical implementations and support data product teams and engineers.

You will work across conceptual, logical and physical modelling, establishing common definitions and standards while collaborating with multiple teams to ensure governance and traceability of models.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial data modelling experience.
• Experience across conceptual, logical and physical modelling.
• Experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data platform.
• Strong SQL and data querying skills.
• Business entity and domain modelling.
• Data product schemas and data contracts.
• Source to target mapping and transformation logic.
• Metadata, business glossary and data catalogue experience.
• Experience with established data modelling tools and repositories.
• Ability to work across both business and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Create clear, reusable data models linking business concepts to technical implementation.
• Collaborate with domain experts, architects, analysts and engineers to improve data understanding and usage.
• Map dependencies between domains and data products and ensure models are traceable via metadata, lineage and governance.
