Job summary

Baillie Gifford is seeking a Data Modeller to create clear, scalable data models across business and technology teams. You’ll define concepts, relationships and structures, connect business definitions to logical and physical models, and enable reliable data products and analytics.

You will work on Snowflake-based environments, perform domain discovery, mapping, and design of conceptual, logical and physical data models, while collaborating with architects, analysts and engineers to ensure

Qualifications

• Experience modelling data in Snowflake or a comparable modern cloud warehouse/lakehouse.
• Strong SQL queries and data extraction skills.
• Familiarity with data catalogues, metadata and data governance concepts.

Responsibilities

• Identify key business entities, terminology, ownership and domain boundaries to map the data landscape.
• Map inputs/outputs, data products, interfaces and cross-domain dependencies.
• Model conceptual data: domains, entities, relationships and definitions.
• Design logical data models with clear business/technical purpose.
• Translate logical designs into physical structures for databases, warehouses, lakehouses and analytics.
• Design data contracts and semantic layers for reusable datasets.
• Maintain modelling standards, naming conventions and metadata expectations.
• Link models to catalogue entries, glossary terms, lineage and quality rules.
