Job summary

Bright Purple in Edinburgh is seeking an experienced Data Architect for a 6-month hybrid contract. You’ll translate architecture principles into practical data solutions across ingestion, processing, storage, integration and consumption.

You’ll collaborate with data engineers, platform engineers, software engineers and governance teams to define reusable patterns and guardrails, ensure security, data quality and observability, and deliver scalable, cost-aware data systems.

Qualifications

• Strong practical Data Architecture experience.
• Modern cloud data platform architecture.
• Snowflake and Oracle, or comparable OLAP and OLTP technologies.
• Advanced SQL and strong ELT and data transformation knowledge.
• Data warehouse and lakehouse architecture.
• Batch, event driven and analytical data patterns.
• APIs, integration and orchestration.
• Logical, physical and semantic data design.
• Metadata, catalogue and lineage implementation.
• Data security, privacy and access control patterns.
• DevOps/DataOps, CI/CD and infrastructure as code awareness.

Bright Purple are looking for an experienced Data Architect to join a major data transformation programme in Edinburgh. This role sits at the heart of the technical data architecture, translating wider architecture principles into practical, buildable solutions across data ingestion, processing, storage, integration and consumption. You’ll work closely with data engineers, platform engineers, software engineers, modellers and governance teams, defining the technical patterns and guardrails that engineering teams will actually build against.

The role is hybrid in Edinburgh, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. There are no fixed anchor days.
