Job description

POST OVERVIEW

As the Data Manager and ICT Support Officer you will be responsible for the effective administration, maintenance and development of the Academy's Information systems.

The Post holder will ensure that student, staff and Academy data is accurate, secure, up to date and available to authorised users. They will work closely with the Academy's Network Manager, Senior Leadership Team, teaching staff and administrative teams to ensure that the Academy's information systems effectively support teaching, learning and Academy administration.

In addition to their primary responsibility for the Academy's information systems, the post holder will have a strong working knowledge of ICT and will provide help with day-to-day technical support to staff and students, assisting the Network Manager with the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the Academy's ICT infrastructure.

The role is therefore suited to an individual who combines strong data administration skills with practical technical ICT knowledge and who is able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider ICT support function.

MAIN DATA MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

To be the Academy's primary administrator for the data management and storage systems and play a key role in the development of efficient and reliable data gathering systems and procedures.

The role may involve working with sensitive and confidential information; a high level of confidentiality, discretion and professional integrity is essential.

Create, amend and maintain student and staff records by processing student admissions, transfers, withdrawals and leavers to ensure data is up to date, accurate and accessible.

Provide appropriate staff training and guidance in the use of the academy's data management system as required.

Be responsible for the preparation and provision of data required for the completion and submission of complex forms, returns, statistics and data analysis etc. for the Academy to outside agencies, e.g., DfE, and to investigate and resolve related queries to ensure that data is correct.

In conjunction with the Headteacher produce reports and data extracts in a variety of forms for SLT, Trustees, staff and agencies for analysis

Assist with upgrades, updates and system changes as they occur.

SUPPORT TO THE NETWORK MANAGER

To work closely with the Network Manager and provide additional capacity for the day-to-day operation of the Academy's ICT infrastructure.

This may include:

  • Assisting with the deployment and replacement of computers and laptops.
  • A* Assisting with Windows and software deployments
  • Supporting the setup of new staff and student devices
  • Carrying out routine ICT maintenance tasks

Assisting with network troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.

Assisting with Microsoft 365, Intune and other cloud-based systems where appropriate.

Assisting with backups and system checks where required.

Providing technical assistance during periods of high demand.

Taking responsibility for agreed ICT tasks and projects in the absence of the Network Manager.

Maintaining clear records of technical issues and work undertaken.

SAFEGUARDING

Understand and comply with the statutory guidance regarding safeguarding of children, always ensuring the safeguarding and promotion of children's welfare, reporting any concerns to the DesignatedSafeguarding Officer at once.

GENERAL

Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required. Confidentiality in all areas of work.

Work and process personal and sensitive information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR).

Ensure work is conducted in a way that protects the safety and security of information (e.g., strong passwords, reporting breaches, securing paper records, securely disposing of records).

Always comply with the Trust's policies and procedures.

You will undertake other reasonable duties (with competence and experience) as requested, in accordance with the changing needs of the Academy.
