Job summary

Immersive Labs in Bristol (UK) is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and scale our data engineering team of 8+ engineers. You’ll own the data strategy, modernize architecture, and partner with product and analytics to deliver reliable, scalable data solutions.

You’ll blend technical credibility with people leadership, mentor engineers, set vision, remove blockers, and drive data excellence across the organization. This role offers hybrid working and a collaborative, inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform teams (3+ years) with coaching/mentorship.
• Deep understanding of modern data architectures, data integration, orchestration patterns, and cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Technical credibility with data engineering practices: SQL, data modeling, pipelines; tools like dbt, Airflow, etc.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake); performance optimization and data quality patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a talented team of 8+ data engineers, driving a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Define and execute the data engineering strategy aligned with product/business priorities; modernization and platform reliability.
• Champion modernization of data infrastructure across cloud data warehouses, orchestration, and tooling for scale and quality.
• Set and monitor team performance metrics, ensure timely delivery with high engineering standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, analytics engineering, and commercial teams.
• Advocate for scalable, secure, future-proof data solutions; promote best practices and tooling.
