Immersive Labs is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager - Data Engineering (UK, Hybrid) to lead and scale our data engineering function. You will own the strategic direction, blend people leadership with technical judgment, and partner across product, analytics, and commercial teams to deliver scalable, secure data solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience leading data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform teams.
• Deep understanding of modern data architectures, data integration patterns, orchestration and cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong data engineering practices: SQL, data modeling, pipeline design, and tools like dbt, Airflow, Fivetran.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Redshift, or Snowflake) including performance optimization.
• Ability to articulate data strategy to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience setting and executing data or technology strategy with KPIs and business outcomes.
• Collaborative, inclusive leader who fosters psychological safety and builds high-performing teams.
• Comfort with infrastructure-as-code concepts (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a talented team of 8+ data engineers, driving learning and technical excellence.
• Define and execute the data engineering strategy aligned with product and business priorities.
• Modernize data infrastructure, data warehouse, orchestration, and tooling for scale and reliability.
• Set and monitor team performance metrics, delivery timelines, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and commercial teams to align data initiatives with business goals.
• Advocate for scalable, secure data solutions and modern best practices across the team.
• Represent data engineering in leadership forums, communicating value and roadmap.
• Foster an inclusive culture where diverse perspectives are valued and engineers grow.
