Job summary

YLD in London is seeking a senior data lead to join our data practice, working closely with client teams and leadership. You will deliver hands-on data engineering, shape engagements, and elevate our technical credibility from day one.

You’ll define internal standards, mentor engineers, and help win new work by translating complex data problems into credible, scalable solutions. Travel to client sites and events is expected as the practice grows.

Qualifications

• Strong data engineer or data lead with client exposure.
• Leadership in technical teams and responsible for delivery.
• Comfortable presenting to senior client stakeholders and steering engagements.
• Ability to translate engineering constraints into business terms for clients.
• A track record of building public presence in the data community over time.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with commercial teams.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on data engineering work directly—pipelines, transformations, models, and associated infrastructure.
• Adapt to different client contexts, including legacy warehouses and lakehouse transformations.
• Mentor and grow data engineers while guiding wider team on technical problems.
• Define and evolve internal data standards: testing, documentation, project structure, code review.
• Join client meetings as the technical data authority; shape proposals and scopes.
• Travel to client sites for workshops, discovery sessions, and external data events.
• Own the growth of YLD's data practice and contribute to attracting talent.
• Represent YLD at data events and in the data community as the market grows.
• Support the sales team to proactively position data offerings.
