Job summary

Instil Software Ltd is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and evolve a cloud-based data platform. You will work across the stack in Python and AWS, delivering reliable data, APIs, and ingestion pipelines while supporting frontend work when needed.

The role focuses on practical delivery, building ETL/ELT pipelines, exposing data via APIs, and improving platform reliability for reporting and operational use cases. Hybrid working in Belfast is available.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python for data processing and pipeline development.
• Strong SQL with complex queries and performance tuning.
• Experience building production data platforms and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with AWS data services and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake/Redshift).
• Ability to design APIs and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in production environments.
• Develop ingestion and egress patterns to support reliable data access.
• Work with structured and semi-structured data (JSON, Parquet).
• Build and maintain data models across a cloud data platform.
• Design and implement APIs to expose data for downstream consumers.
• Contribute to cloud-based data platform development in AWS.
• Support lightweight frontend work (React/TypeScript) for data tools.
• Implement observability practices across pipelines and APIs.
• Improve reliability, performance, and failure handling across the platform.
• Collaborate with engineers and analysts to deliver data for reporting and operations.
