Job summary

Roche is seeking a Data Engineer to anchor our advanced analytics and AI roadmap. You will design the data architecture powering ML models, run AI proof-of-concept builds, and bring data into production through scalable, governed pipelines.

You will work with Data Scientists and cross-functional squads to operationalise models, leverage vector databases, and apply MLOps practices to productionized solutions in a healthcare-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Substantial professional experience in data engineering, data architecture or MLOps.
• Proficiency in Python or Scala.
• Hands-on experience with big-data processing and orchestration within the Apache ecosystem.
• Proven MLOps ability, including model registry, tracking and container deployment at scale.
• Experience implementing and managing vector databases for AI workloads.

Responsibilities

• Run and maintain AI proof-of-concept builds, ensuring technical viability and production integration.
• Perform complex extraction, transformation and loading from diverse internal and external sources.
• Develop and optimise robust data infrastructure, including vector databases to support AI/LLMs and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to operationalise models with lifecycle tracking and container orchestration at scale.
• Monitor infrastructure and troubleshoot pipeline issues, ensuring data governance and quality at source.
• Partner Data Consultants to translate business needs into functional technical specifications.
