Job summary

Ocado Group is seeking a Data Engineer in Hatfield to design and maintain the data warehouse powering analytics, ML, and partner data products. You will transform raw data into trusted, governed datasets and build scalable ELT/ETL pipelines in a cloud data warehouse environment.

You will work in an agile team, collaborating with data scientists, analysts, product owners, and platform engineers to deliver secure, business-ready datasets and robust data transformation frameworks.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Strong SQL and Python skills.
• Experience with dbt and CI/CD workflows.
• GIT and CI/CD workflows experience.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Math/SE or equivalent.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery preferred).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the core data warehouse powering analytics, reporting, ML, and partner data products.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines across enterprise data solutions.
• Create dimensional and analytical data models for complex reporting needs.
• Develop reusable data transformation logic using modern software engineering practices.
• Implement automated data quality checks and pipeline monitoring.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, product teams, and platform engineers.
• Troubleshoot and optimise pipeline performance for efficiency and resilience.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards.
• Produce clear documentation and share knowledge across the data engineering craft.
