Job description

Introduction

You'll join a small team responsible for the safe and orderly operation of our data centre environment used for developing and testing IBM products.

Additionally, you'll support our worldwide development, support, and test teams who rely on this data centre environment.

Your Role and Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to support colleagues across the globe who utilize our data centre in Hursley.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Ensure the data centres are safe and tidy, reporting any issues observed.
  • Assist in the hardware build of new products.
  • Support requests from our worldwide teams for configuration changes within test setups in the data centres.
  • Manage hardware and component inventory within the data centres.
  • Support incoming and outgoing shipments to/from our partners and worldwide teams.
Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Experience working with Excel.
  • Experience installing Linux and VMware.
  • Accurate and timely record keeping.
  • Able and willing to safely move large and heavy hardware.
  • Experience working within a data centre environment.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
  • Experience working with servers, storage, and networking technologies.
  • Able to install data and power cables in a safe and tidy manner.
  • Experience installing and removing hardware within 42U rack cabinets.
  • Experience administering and supporting Linux and VMware.
