Job Description:

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual customer access to cloud services. As a Data Centre Technician, you will be the primary resolver for your support team, troubleshooting issues on various operating systems, escalating complex problems, and maintaining documentation. You will execute small projects independently, act as an escalation point for junior staff, and understand all equipment aspects. Shift work, including 12-hour shifts and travel up to 10%, is required.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Problem Solving: Maintain system reliability, troubleshoot Linux servers, virtualization issues, and escalate problems.
  2. Technical: Troubleshoot hardware and network outages, participate in power and cooling events.
  3. Operations: Meet 24/7 on-call requirements, install and configure hardware, resolve trouble tickets, manage parts and spares, and ensure security best practices.
  4. Project Management: Participate in projects, contribute to metrics analysis, and support the development of AWS infrastructure.
  5. Mentoring: Share knowledge and educate less technical staff.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts (day/night), including weekends, in a 24/7 environment.
  • Comfort with standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in noisy environments.
  • Experience with computer hardware and networking.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s degree or higher in IT, applicable certifications, or military experience.
  • Networking certifications such as CCNA or Network+.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and data center operations.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, cabling standards, and testing.
  • Valid driver’s license, own vehicle, and ability to pass driving record checks; travel may be required.
