Job summary

TGS International Group is seeking a Data Centre Supervisor for a site-based role in Manchester. You will own MAC and BAU activities in a live, 24/7 data centre, supervising the on-site team to ensure safe delivery, standard compliance and SLA attainment.

You'll work with the Data Centre Manager, Service Delivery Manager and client stakeholders to plan, schedule, coordinate vendors, and drive continuous improvements in how the site runs. Hands-on cabling expertise is essential.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in structured cabling installation, testing and fault finding.
  • Strong knowledge of cabling standards (copper & fibre) and data centre infrastructure.
  • Experience with asset management, ticketing systems and service delivery processes.
  • Ability to supervise shift activities and support project delivery from design through to handover.
  • Experience managing third-party vendors in large-scale operations.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a 24/7 environment.
  • Excellent communicator, able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver MAC and BAU activities across data centre and campus environments.
  • Support planning, scheduling and execution of works to meet client requirements.
  • Monitor SLA performance and escalate risks as needed.
  • Coordinate with clients, internal teams and vendors to maintain service excellence.
  • Supervise cabling, installation, decommissioning and equipment handling.
  • Manage workload allocation, resources and shift coverage.
  • Ensure health & safety, quality standards and client processes are followed.
  • Support incident management and first-line technical support.
  • Maintain documentation, reporting and asset tracking systems.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to service improvement.

Job description

We are working with a specialist provider of IT cabling and critical infrastructure support services, delivering managed data centre operations for major enterprise clients across the UK.

This is a site-based Data Centre Supervisor role within a live, high-availability 24/7 environment. You will take ownership of the day-to-day delivery of Moves, Adds & Changes (MAC) activity and Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations, supervising the on-site team and making sure work is delivered safely, to standard, and within SLA.

Working alongside the Data Centre Manager, Service Delivery Manager and client stakeholders, you will be involved in planning and scheduling works, coordinating vendors, and driving continuous improvement in how the site runs. It is a hands-on supervisory position for someone who knows structured cabling inside out and enjoys the operational rhythm of a live data hall.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver MAC and BAU activities across data centre and campus environments
  • Support the planning, scheduling and execution of works to meet client requirements
  • Monitor and ensure SLA performance, escalating risks and issues where required
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients and third-party vendors to maintain service excellence
  • Supervise cabling, installation, decommissioning and equipment handling activities within the data centre
  • Manage workload allocation, resource planning and shift coverage
  • Maintain compliance with health & safety, quality standards and client processes
  • Support incident management, troubleshooting and first-line technical support
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting and asset tracking systems
  • Participate in operational, client and team meetings and contribute to service improvement
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Extensive experience in structured cabling installation, testing and fault finding
  • Strong knowledge of cabling standards (copper & fibre) and data centre infrastructure
  • Proven experience with asset management, ticketing systems and service delivery processes
  • Ability to supervise shift activities and support project delivery from design through to handover
  • Experience managing third-party vendors and working in large-scale operational environments
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a 24/7 operational environment
  • Excellent communicator, able to work independently and as part of a team
DESIRABLE
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, CCNA or ITIL
  • Data centre or cabling certifications such as BICSI, CDCTP or CDCMP
  • Previous experience within banking or enterprise data centre environments
WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS
  • Salary of £40,000 - £46,000
