Responsibilities

  • Operate all M&E systems within the Data Centre, including HV isolations and energy considerations.
  • Oversee Specialist Sub Contractors to ensure works follow SOPs/MOPs/PTW and client change requests.
  • Ensure worksheets are signed off and work quality is inspected with clear communications to Engineering Manager.
  • Accurately report completed work orders and log critical spares/stock usage.
  • Review MOPs, SOPs, EOPs and risk assessments; maintain risk registers.
  • Complete shift handover reports noting major events for oncoming shifts and CBRE management.
  • Champion QHSE compliance, conduct Toolbox Talks and hazard reporting.
  • Attend nominated CBRE training in line with DCS matrix; support team development.
  • Foster a positive culture with focus on training and continuous improvement of safe systems.
  • Supervise planned/reactive maintenance, spot audit completed tasks, and manage shift team holidays and performance reviews.
  • Oversee tool calibration, PPE management, and plantroom tidiness; mentor technicians and apprentices.
  • Participate in QA processes to validate workmanship and compliance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Data Centre Shift Leader

Business Sector: CBRE, GWS, Data Centre Solutions UK, Telehouse Contract

Location: Longcross

Purpose of the Job (but not limited to):

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Data Centre Shift Leader to join our successful Data Centre Solutions team based in Longcross - Chertsey. As the post holder, you will be expected to have extensive understanding of Data Centre infrastructure (Electrical, Mechanical, and DC specific infrastructure). As the shift leader, you will be responsible for effective inspection, operation and maintenance of all associated assets within the Data Centre.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate all M&E systems within the Data Centre in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including HV Electrical isolations/operations). Having due regard to business risk and energy use. Making recommendations for improvement and providing concise technical reports when required.
  • Ensuring that all Specialist Sub Contractors visits are conducting works in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures/ MOP/PTW/client change requests.
  • Ensure that Specialist Sub Contractor worksheets are signed off where necessary, that quality of work has been inspected and recommendations are communicated to the Engineering Manager.
  • Accurately reporting of all completed work orders, including precise recording of any critical spares/stock items used during these tasks.
  • Reviewing MOP's, SOP's and EOP's and associated risk assessments.
  • Completing the shift handover reports, ensuring that significant events or activities are noted and effectively communicated to oncoming shifts and CBRE management.
  • Champion and promote QHSE compliance activities, such as Hazard/Near Miss Reporting and regular Toolbox Talks.
  • Proactively attend nominated training courses as identified by CBRE management in line with DCS training matrix.
  • Contribute to a positive culture within the team, regarding personal development and training.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.
  • Supervising completion of assigned CBRE planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Spot auditing of completed CBRE planned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Line management responsibilities of the shift team, including holiday and sickness approvals, and mid and end year reviews.
  • Management of training and e-learning of the shift team.
  • High Voltage Authorised Person.
  • Management of tools for the shift team, including organisation of tool calibration and regular tool checks.
  • Management of PPE for the shift team, including organisation of tool calibration and regular tool checks.
  • Ownership of plantroom tidiness and compliance.
  • Supporting training and development of shift technicians and apprentices.
  • Participation in engineering Quality Assurance process, to validate the standards of completed works.
Accountabilities:
  • Reporting to the Contract Manager.
  • Working hands on Supervision to assist the teams when and where required.
  • To create an audit ready environment and ensure compliance is met in all areas.
  • Accountability to the CBRE Functional heads, as appropriate.
  • No Purchase and Ledger Responsibility for the contract. However, should be financially aware and able to produce basic quotations for works.
Experience Required:
  • Understanding of Health and Safety requirements and be able to supervise others on all aspects of day-to-day health and safety.
  • Must have experience working in a critical environment.
  • Must have valid or previous experience in high voltage (AP15) and 18th edition wiring regulations.
  • Mechanical qualifications or be able to demonstrate good mechanical knowledge.
  • Team working and experience in customer facing situations, good communicator with a good level of computer literacy.
  • Experience in managing sub-contractors, running permit to work system and being accountable for others safety.
  • Flexible working with the ability to manage own workloads with little supervision.
  • Good commercial knowledge.
  • Good working knowledge of Data Centres. And experience in supervising a team.
  • LVAP / HVAP
Desirable Experience Required:
  • Health and Safety qualifications (IOSH/NEBOSH).
  • First Aid trained.
  • AP15 High Voltage
  • AP14 Low Voltage
