Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is seeking a Data Centre Shift Leader for our Longcross data centre. You will oversee electrical, mechanical and DC infrastructure, perform inspections, and manage maintenance tasks to ensure high reliability.

You will lead a shift team, supervise subcontractors, manage permits to work and uphold rigorous QHSE standards while driving continuous improvement and safe working practices.

Qualifications

• Understand health and safety requirements and supervise others on day-to-day safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate M&E systems in the data centre, including HV isolations and operations.
• Ensure sub-contractor visits follow SOPs, MOPs, PTW and client change requests.
• Sign off on subcontractor work and report quality and recommendations to the Engineering Manager.
• Accurately record all completed work orders and critical spares used.
• Review MOPs, SOPs, EOPs and risk assessments for safety and compliance.
• Complete shift handover reports and communicate significant events to CBRE management.
• Promote QHSE compliance, hazard reporting and toolbox talks.
• Attend nominated training to support the DCS training matrix.
• Support training and development of shift technicians and apprentices.
• Oversee tool calibration, PPE management and plantroom tidiness.
• Lead and mentor the shift team including holidays, sickness and performance reviews.
• Maintain LVAP/HVAP competencies and participate in QA processes.

As the post holder, you will be expected to have extensive understanding of Data Centre infrastructure (Electrical, Mechanical, and DC specific infrastructure). As the shift leader, you will be responsible for effective inspection, operation and maintenance of all associated assets within the Data Centre.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate all M&E systems within the Data Centre in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including HV Electrical isolations/operations). Having due regard to business risk and energy use. Making recommendations for improvement and providing concise technical reports when required.
• Ensuring that all Specialist Sub Contractors visits are conducting works in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures/ MOP/PTW/client change requests.
• Ensure that Specialist Sub Contractor worksheets are signed off where necessary, that quality of work has been inspected and recommendations are communicated to the Engineering Manager.
• Accurately reporting of all completed work orders, including precise recording of any critical spares/stock items used during these tasks.
• Reviewing MOP’s, SOP’s and EOP’s and associated risk assessments.
• Completing the shift handover reports, ensuring that significant events or activities are noted and effectively communicated to oncoming shifts and CBRE management.
• Champion and promote QHSE compliance activities, such as Hazard/Near Miss Reporting and regular Toolbox Talks.
• Proactively attend nominated training courses as identified by CBRE management in line with DCS training matrix.
• Contribute to a positive culture within the team, regarding personal development and training.
• Actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.
• Supervising completion of assigned CBRE planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Spot auditing of completed CBRE planned preventative maintenance tasks.
• Line management responsibilities of the shift team, including holiday and sickness approvals, and mid and end year reviews.
• Management of training and e-learning of the shift team.
• High Voltage Authorised Person.
• Management of tools for the shift team, including organisation of tool calibration and regular tool checks.
• Management of PPE for the shift team, including organisation of tool calibration and regular tool checks.
• Ownership of plantroom tidiness and compliance.
• Supporting training and development of shift technicians and apprentices.
• Participation in engineering Quality Assurance process, to validate the standards of completed works.

Accountabilities

• Reporting to the Contract Manager.
• Working hands on Supervision to assist the teams when and where required.
• To create an audit ready environment and ensure compliance is met in all areas.
• Accountability to the CBRE Functional heads, as appropriate.
• No Purchase and Ledger Responsibility for the contract. However, should be financially aware and able to produce basic quotations for works.

Experience Required

• Understanding of Health and Safety requirements and be able to supervise others on all aspects of day-to-day health and safety.
• Must have experience working in a critical environment.
• Must have valid or previous experience in high voltage (AP15) and 18th edition wiring regulations.
• Mechanical qualifications or be able to demonstrate good mechanical knowledge.
• Team working and experience in customer facing situations, good communicator with a good level of computer literacy.
• Experience in managing sub-contractors, running permit to work system and being accountable for others safety.
• Flexible working with the ability to manage own workloads with little supervision.
• Good commercial knowledge.
• Good working knowledge of Data Centres. And experience in supervising a team.
• LVAP / HVAP

Desirable Experience Required

• Health and Safety qualifications (IOSH/NEBOSH).
• First Aid trained.
• AP15 High Voltage
• AP14 Low Voltage

Terms And Conditions

Overtime: Rate 1.5x Mon- Sat and 2x Sunday

Working hours: Continental Shift Pattern 06:00 – 18:00 / 18:00 – 06:00

Holiday Entitlement: 20 Days
