About You:

You are a dynamic DataCentre Hardware Engineer who can manage your own workload and understands the importance of customer communication whilst delivering a quality service for our user base. You have good interpersonal skills and are well organised and practical, with a logical, analytical approach to problem solving. You pay careful, close attention to detail and have experience working in highly complex data centres.

You’ll have knowledge of multiple hardware technologies including Cisco, Palo Alto, NetApp, and Pure systems. You're comfortable implementing changes outside of core hours and have experience with cabling within data centres. As a well-rounded Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be self-motivated and passionate about service delivery to a high standard, with the ability to learn new and varied skills within our Access Group support environment.

You’ll be able to coach other members of staff and share knowledge effectively, work well under pressure and within given timescales, and thrive in a team environment. You’ll also be flexible enough to work outside core working hours when required to implement changes, and you'll be expected to visit our primary data centres on a weekly basis.

Day-to-day, you will:
  • Experience of working in highly complex Data Centres - including cabling and upgrades
  • Knowledge of multiple hardware technologies including (Cisco, Palo Alto, NetApp, Pure)
  • Work on assigned Service Requests and Incidents within the documented SLA’s
  • Work within an ITIL framework to reduce customer impacting Incidents
  • Review workload to drive efficiency, move processes and technology towards automation and self-service
  • Well organised person who will ensure documentation/runbooks are following and kept up to date
  • Implementing changes outside of core hours
  • Expected to visit primary data centres on a weekly basis
