Position Concept

The Data Centre Engineering Manager plays a crucial role in the technical operations of the building and infrastructure. You will need a detailed understanding of installed building services systems, contingency procedures, and proactive knowledge sharing with site personnel. Your role includes ensuring efficient operation of critical and non-critical engineering services, achieving 100% availability, and acting as a technical coordinator for maintenance activities, including HV operations and permits.

Key Tasks
  • Supervise and manage the technical competencies of site personnel and subcontractors.
  • Operate building systems effectively, including HV isolations, with regard to business risk and energy use.
  • Manage all activities related to the operation of building systems.
  • Coordinate with engineering team and subcontractors, ensuring SOPs, MOPs, PTWs, and change requests are prepared and approved.
  • Ensure quality and safety standards are met by all personnel.
  • Participate in regular reviews of the preventative maintenance system and attend operational meetings.
  • Assist in preparing engineering reports and maintaining asset and system databases.
  • Monitor utilities and report anomalies or savings opportunities.
  • Manage critical infrastructure, including risk registers and system availability.
  • Assess and develop engineering competencies, plan training, and ensure staffing adequacy.
  • Oversee critical spares, incident reporting, and maintenance of critical equipment.
  • Provide quotations for infrastructure improvements and implement emergency procedures.
  • Ensure statutory and QHSE compliance and communicate updates effectively.
  • Support on-call engineering support and contribute to business continuity planning.
Personal Qualities
  • At least 5 years of experience in Data Centre or Critical Environment operations.
  • HV Authorised Person certification.
  • Willingness to achieve 18th Edition Amendment 2 wiring and installation qualification.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and IT skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, proactive, diligent, and committed to high standards.
