Job summary

Crown Holdings, Inc. is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure professional to design, implement and operate a secure, reliable server and storage infrastructure supporting the EMEA IT systems and data centres.

The role covers DR, backups, monitoring, and performance optimization to ensure continuous business operations. Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in Microsoft-based infrastructure, VMware knowledge, and experience with automation tools.

Qualifications

• IS background with 5+ years on Microsoft-based infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Hypervisor technologies (e.g., VMware).
• Experience with server technologies, storage, and DR/backup.
• Proficient in performance monitoring and capacity planning.
• Familiar with automation/orchestration (Ansible, Terraform).
• Experience coordinating across multiple geographies; outsourcing beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery and continuous improvement of a secure, reliable server and data centre infrastructure.
• Ensure rapid incident response, root cause analysis, and service improvements.
• Develop and maintain DR, backups, and resilience to meet RTO/RPO.
• Align infra strategy and capacity planning with business needs while controlling costs.
• Identify and implement new technologies to boost performance and efficiency.
• Oversee support of internal and third-party server infrastructure.
• Collaborate across divisions to align infrastructure standards and practices.
• Ensure governance, audit, regulatory and cybersecurity compliance.
• Define and audit server, data centre and performance monitoring standards.
• Lead Data Centre and Performance team to maximise capability and engagement.

This role is also responsible for the ongoing maintenance, operation and continuous improvement of the EMEA Division’s Data Centres, Backups and Disaster Recovery solutions and processes as well as server and system performance monitoring.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of a secure, reliable, and high-performing server and data centre infrastructure.
• Ensure rapid incident response, root cause analysis, and service improvement for server and performance-related issues.
• Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and resilience capabilities that meet RTO and RPO objectives.
• Align infrastructure strategy and capacity planning with current and future business requirements while controlling costs.
• Identify, assess, and implement new technologies and standards to enhance infrastructure performance and operational efficiency.
• Oversee the operational support of all internal and third-party server infrastructure and shared platforms.
• Collaborate across Crown divisions and IT teams to align infrastructure strategies, standards, and operational practices.
• Ensure compliance with governance, audit, regulatory, licensing, and cybersecurity requirements.
• Define, maintain, and audit server, data centre, and performance monitoring standards, documentation, and environments.
• Manage, develop, and motivate the Data Centre and Performance team to maximise capability, engagement, and performance.

Required Education And Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology subject (or similar)
• Certified in ITIL Foundation
• PRINCE2 qualification

Required Knowledge And Experience

• IS background with at least 5 years’ working with a Microsoft based IS Infrastructure
• Detailed knowledge of Hypervisor Technologies (ie VMware)
• Detailed knowledge of Server technologies, solutions, procedures & processes. Clear understanding of Hybrid Storage systems, technologies and pros/cons.
• Strong understanding of performance monitoring technologies.
• Can demonstrate a history of developing & implementing new server platforms
• Understanding of IT within a manufacturing or other 24/7 environment is essential
• Co-ordinated activities across multiple geographies.
• Previous experience working with outsourcers would be beneficial
• Knowledge or experience of automation/orchestration (Ansible, Terraform) and container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker swarm) would be highly beneficial
• Prior experience working in a regulated industry (SOX, ISO)
