Job Description Data Architect

Our client, a leading financial services corporation, is hiring a Data Architect to drive & design their data strategy as they transition from on-premises to Azure cloud services. You will be part of a team designing and managing data systems primarily in Azure, ensuring alignment with business goals and requirements. To succeed, you must have strong expertise in Azure-based data solutions within a regulated environment.

Our client offers a basic salary of £83,000 to £85,000 + Bonus + Pension + Hybrid Working + Private Healthcare, based in Wolverhampton on a hybrid basis.

You will possess experience designing and implementing large-scale data warehousing/data modeling projects, as the client rebuilds its IT ecosystem to prioritize Data at the core — a historic shift for the company!

Core responsibilities:

1. Architect and design end-to-end data solutions on-premises and in Azure, ensuring alignment with business goals and requirements.
2. Provide data architecture support and guidance for new software/solutions.
3. Create robust and scalable data models that meet business needs following industry best practices.
4. Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand data requirements.
5. Integrate various data sources (on-premises, cloud-based, third-party) into the Azure environment.
6. Utilize Azure services like Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks for data storage, transformation, and analysis.

Core skills and experience:

1. Experience as a Data Architect leading major data projects within a regulated environment (preferably financial services).
2. Specialist knowledge of SQL Server (2008 to 2019), especially relevant to Azure transition.
3. Expert-level knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM).
4. Strong capabilities in Data modeling.
5. Experience in Data Cleansing and Data Masking on Azure Cloud (desirable).
6. Understanding of TOGAF, with certification (nice to have).
