About Our Client

Government Property Agency

Job Description

Introduction: Michael Page has exclusively partnered with The Government Property Agency (GPA) to support their ongoing Data Transformation programmes. The newly created role of Data Analytics & Data Science Lead is pivotal to this strategy. The GPA is the largest property holder in government, with assets exceeding £2.1 billion and over 55% of the government's office estate. The GPA aims to transform civil service workspaces, lead major office programmes, reduce carbon emissions, and maximize value for taxpayers. We seek innovative, solutions-focused individuals to work on transformational initiatives like the Government Hubs Programme, Whitehall Campus Programme, and Net Zero Programme, alongside delivering modern, cost-effective real estate services. Innovation and progress are core to GPA's culture, which promotes lifelong learning, curiosity, and self-improvement. The organization is committed to being a leading, inclusive employer that values Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), ensuring services meet government and civil service needs.

Job Overview:

  • Data analytics combined with Data Science can significantly support GPA's planning in areas such as Operations, Portfolio Performance, H&S, Risk Management, and Sustainability, providing actionable insights for planning, decision-making, scenario analysis, and predictive analytics.
  • GPA already uses data analytics to create transparent, interactive interfaces for large data sets. Due to high demand, a lead role is needed to manage the data portfolio and its complexity within GPA.
  • Existing PowerBI dashboards support key business objectives and reporting in areas like Occupancy, Property Portfolio, Customer Satisfaction, CRM, and Sustainability.
  • The role involves developing capabilities in data science to create new methods and insights, enhancing operational analytics.
  • Work locations include Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Swindon, Nottingham, or Manchester with a hybrid working pattern (2 days in-office per week).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of GPA's Data Strategy and reporting needs.
  • Manage and enhance business-critical dashboards and reports, ensuring they meet organizational needs.
  • Lead a team of developers, overseeing daily tasks to ensure high performance and alignment with business goals.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy data analytics solutions for the intended users.
  • Engage with the business through meetings and updates, gathering requirements for new dashboards.
  • Collaborate across GPA to develop new data visualizations that support daily operations.

The Successful Applicant

Person Specification / Key Skills Criteria & Qualifications:

  • Must be data-driven, capable of devising approaches to analyze large data volumes.
  • Ensure BI requirements are captured, documented, and understood across GPA.
