Job summary

North Yorkshire Councils’ Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team is seeking a caring, reliable minibus driver to support transport for clients to various venues. Minibus experience is welcomed but not essential.

You will help ensure safe journeys for all passengers, including assistance with boarding and alighting. You’ll use strong communication to connect with school staff, parents and carers, and receive training such as MIDAS and Basic First Aid.

Qualifications

• D1 or D1 (101) entitlement on your driving licence is an essential requirement.
• Experience driving minibuses is an advantage but not essential.
• Excellent communication with staff, parents and carers.

• Drive accessible and non-accessible minibuses and other vehicles.
• Ensure passengers board, travel and alight safely with correct use of safety equipment.
• Collaborate with school staff and carers to support passenger needs.

Across North Yorkshire, our Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team keeps our community moving. Our extensive network of more than 120 vehicles, mainly minibuses, and approximately 340 drivers and passenger assistants work tirelessly to deliver safe, reliable transport where it’s needed most. From providing essential local bus services to unlocking access to learning, employment, and social centres, we ensure nobody gets left behind.

By joining us, you become a lifeline for our community. We bridge the gap to critical community hubs, enabling independent access to education, supported employment, day centres, and other meaningful activities. The team delivers approximately 250,000 passenger journeys per year including 20,000 wheelchair user journeys.

About the role

Are you a caring, reliable driver looking to make a difference? While minibus experience or a background in a similar role is an advantage, it is not essential. We are looking for a caring, flexible, and committed person to help transport clients who require additional support to and from a range of different venues.

You will be helping to make sure all our passengers enjoy a safe and comfortable journey:

• Driving accessible and non-accessible minibuses and other vehicles along with undertaking minor vehicle repairs as and when necessary
• Ensuring all passengers board, travel, and alight safely, while ensuring that any safety equipment is used correctly. Full equipment training is provided.
• Using your great communication skills to connect and collaborate with school and centre staff, parents, carers and colleagues

D1 or D1 (101) entitlement on your driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.

Please note that the salary advertised is the full time equivalent rate.
