Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking an experienced cyber security leader to shape and deliver our cyber security strategy while ensuring day-to-day security operations. You will influence senior stakeholders and drive improvements across a large, complex organisation.

You may already lead a security function or be ready to step into a Head of Cyber Security role. The role offers hybrid working from our London-area offices and collaboration with technology, risk, procurement and governance teams.

Qualifications

• Significant cyber security leadership experience including strategy setting and delivery.
• Experience leading teams, projects or organizational change with the ability to inspire and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong understanding of security governance, risk management, controls and industry frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, ITIL, COBIT).
• Ability to translate complex cyber security concepts into clear, practical advice for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Balance risk, investment and operational priorities to support business outcomes while maintaining security standards.
• Pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with calm under pressure in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Leading and developing the Cyber Security team, ensuring effective delivery of security services across the organisation.
• Shaping and delivering the cyber security strategy, operating model, policies, standards and architecture.
• Overseeing prevention, investigation and remediation of incidents while strengthening resilience and recovery capability.
• Embedding security-by-design principles into technology change, programmes, projects and procurement.
• Providing cyber security reporting and assurance to senior leaders, committees and the Board on controls and risks.
• Driving continuous improvement across the security framework and Information Security Management System.
• Supporting ongoing ISO 27001 alignment and compliance with legislation and Cyber Essentials Plus requirements.
