Cyber Security Manager
Sheffield + Hybrid working (3-4 days on site)
Up to £75,000

Our Manufacturing client is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Cyber Security Manager to lead their cybersecurity efforts within a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment. You will be responsible for protecting critical assets, networks, and data against cyber threats while managing a small team of security professionals and the relationship of our outsourced service providers. This role demands a strategic thinker with hands-on expertise in cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management.

What you will be doing
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a small team of cybersecurity specialists, fostering collaboration and enhancing team performance.
  • Strategy: Support the development, implementation and maintenance of the IT strategy by offering security advice and creation of security policy to enable business objectives.
  • Incident Management: Lead the response to security incidents, ensuring effective investigation, containment, and resolution to a successful outcome.
  • Threat Analysis: Using a combination of in-house tooling and external resources, conduct vulnerability analysis, and penetration tests to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential threats.
  • Policy Development: Refresh existing, and where required, author robust cyber security policies, procedures, and standards for the organization.
  • Training and Awareness: Oversee the design and execution of employee security training programs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Enterprise Architect, Service Desk, Infrastructure teams and other resolver groups to safeguard operational technology (OT) and IT systems.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations (e.g., CE and CE Plus etc).
  • Technology Management: Evaluate and implement technologies for monitoring, detection, and prevention of cyber threats.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and recommendations to Director IT on security posture, risks, and incident responses.


What you will need

  • Certifications: Industry-recognised certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH etc).
  • Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of hands-on experience in cyber security, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint protection, and risk management. Familiarity with manufacturing-specific systems (e.g., SCADA, ICS) is advantageous.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex issues and provide clear, actionable solutions.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to adapt to the unique challenges of securing both IT/OT systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in cybersecurity roles, with a focus on MOD-related projects.
  • Strong understanding of MOD security standards and policies.
  • Experience in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.


What you will get in return
This role is paying up to £75,000 per year, working 3-4 days per week in Sheffield with some hybrid flexibility. The organisation offers excellent benefits, holidays and pensions.
