Job summary

Raytheon UK is seeking a technically strong cyber security professional to start as a Cyber Security Engineer with a clear growth pathway into an Architect role. The position is hybrid, based in Gloucester, with on-site days and remote work as required and approved.

You will build solid foundations in security engineering, with progression into architecture while collaborating with experienced security architects and engineers to deliver secure systems that meet UK government security

Qualifications

  • Experience in cyber security, infrastructure, or systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of networking, OS concepts, IAM, and cloud fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with security tooling (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR) and secure design principles.

Responsibilities

  • Grow into a Cyber Security Architect by starting as a Cyber Security Engineer and developing the skills needed for architecture.

Work Culture

37hr working week, although hours may vary depending on role, job requirement or site-specific arrangements. Early 1.30pm finish Friday, start your weekend early! Role and Responsibilities

This role is designed for a technically strong cyber security or IT professional who is looking to transition into a Cyber Security Architect position over time. You will join as a Cyber Security Engineer and develop the skills, experience, and exposure needed to move into architecture, working closely with experienced security architects and engineers. We are not expecting prior architecture experience. Instead, we are looking for individuals with a solid technical foundation, strong curiosity, and the ability to think critically about how systems are designed and secured. This is a growth role with a clear pathway into security architecture.

Essential Experience
  • Experience in cyber security, infrastructure, or systems engineering.
  • Background in roles such as: Security Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, SOC Analyst (with strong technical depth)
  • Strong understanding of; Networking (TCP/IP, firewalls, segmentation), Operating systems (Windows/Linux), Identity and access management concepts, Cloud Fundamentals.
  • Exposure to security tooling (SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR)
  • Strong understanding of core security principles such as: Defence in depth, Least privilege, Zero trust concepts
  • An understanding of designing and implementing secure systems to HMG security requirements.
  • Experience managing complex technology estates, with differing risk profiles.
Desirable Experience
  • Information Security related certifications such as Security, CISSP, CISM, GSEC, SSCP
