Job summary

Raytheon UK is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer for our Cyber business in Manchester. The role is a permanent, full-time position with hybrid working (min 3 days on-site).

Candidates must be willing and eligible to hold SC and eDV clearance. Responsibilities include deploying applications to cloud or on-prem environments, building tooling and infrastructure, and driving automated CI/CD pipelines while ensuring security and compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery.
• Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure) experience.
• CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration experience.

Responsibilities

• Work as a Principal Platform Engineer deploying apps to cloud or on-prem.
• Attain eDV clearance for eligible candidates.
• Build and set up development tools and infrastructure.
• Understand stakeholder needs and translate to technical work.
• Automate and improve development and release processes.
• Ensure systems are secure against cyber threats.
• Identify problems and develop software updates.
• Collaborate with engineers to follow established processes.

Our National Security Cyber business delivers mission-critical solutions that safeguard our national security 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Working in a mature, agile environment, our SCRUM teams work synchronously with our customers to solve some of the toughest digital challenges faced in the world today.

Role & Responsibilities

• Work as a Principal Platform Engineer, deploying applications and software to cloud or on-prem environments for our many business areas.
• Due to the interesting work we do and the sector this team is working in, we require all candidates to be willing to attain an eDV clearance.
• Building and setting up development tools and infrastructure
• Understand the needs of project stakeholders
• Automate and improve development and release processes
• Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cyber security threats
• Identify technical problems and develop software updates and solutions
• Work with other engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended

Experience

• Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model
• Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure)
• Infrastructure as code e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible etc.
• Experience in building and deploying large-scale applications in Continuous Integration/Delivery pipelines; Container platform and orchestration systems ECS, AKS, Kubernetes/helm/Docker
• Experience in automation and integration tools such as Jenkins, Concourse CI or cloud equivalents
• Experience in scripting languages and source control

Work Culture

37hr working week, although hours may vary depending on role, job requirement or site-specific arrangements. Early 1.30pm finish Friday, start your weekend early!
