Job summary

Right Now Group in Colnbrook is recruiting for a Customs Operations Supervisor to join a busy, established transport and logistics operation. You will supervise a team of six, coordinate workloads and oversee UK and European Road Freight Customs activity, ensuring driver paperwork and documentation are accurate and on time.

This hands-on role offers full training on Customs procedures and company systems, with a strong emphasis on supervisor and operational leadership.

Qualifications

• Previous Supervisor, Team Leader or operational management experience.
• Strong people management and team leadership skills.
• Experience within Road Freight, Transport, Logistics or Customs would be advantageous.
• Previous Customs experience is not essential but beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of six.
• Coordinate daily workloads and allocate tasks across the Customs operation.
• Oversee Road Freight Customs activity for inbound and outbound movements.
• Prepare and manage driver paperwork for vehicles travelling between the UK and Europe.
• Ensure all relevant Customs and transport documentation is complete and accurate.
• Oversee the preparation of full pre-alert packages.
• Ensure documentation is completed within required deadlines.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Monitor inbound and outbound road freight movements.
• Prioritise workloads according to daily requirements.
• Support staff training and development.
• Identify and resolve operational issues as they arise.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy across the department.
• Ensure daily operations run smoothly and deadlines are met.

Right Now Group are recruiting for a Customs Operations Supervisor to join an established transport and logistics business based in Colnbrook.

This is a hands-on supervisory position with a strong focus on Road Freight Customs, overseeing a team of six and supporting the daily movement of inbound and outbound vehicles between the UK and Europe.

You will be responsible for coordinating workloads across the team, overseeing Customs and transport documentation, preparing full pre-alert packages and ensuring driver paperwork is completed accurately and on time.

Previous Customs experience is advantageous but not essential. The business is particularly interested in candidates with strong supervisory, team-leading or operational experience, with full training available on Customs procedures and company systems. Customs Operations supervisor

Skills & Experience Required for a Customs Operations Supervisor

• Previous Supervisor, Team Leader or operational management experience
• Strong people management and team leadership skills
• Experience within Road Freight, Transport, Logistics or Customs would be highly advantageous
• Previous Customs experience is beneficial but not essential
• Knowledge of UK and European road freight movements would be advantageous
• Confident managing workloads and setting daily priorities
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Comfortable working with transport and Customs documentation
• Confident communicating with drivers, customers, suppliers and internal teams
• Able to work effectively within a busy, deadline-driven operation
• Confident using computer systems and learning new software
• Strong operational problem-solving skills
• Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of Road Freight Customs procedures
• Reliable, professional and comfortable taking ownership of the day-to-day operation
